Rosemary and I want to send our thoughts and prayers to my Uncle Howard and his family. We got to see Mary and Howard and some of her loving family for the last time a couple of summers ago and we cherish that occasion. Would love to meet Aunt Mary’s large family at this celebration of her life but circumstances do not permit this possibility.

What can I say about a woman like Mary Rogers? She was the matriarch of our big family, the backbone, the drill sergeant. She had the biggest heart, the best baking and arms made for hugging. Her smile was infectious, her love unending and her legacy, never forgotten.
My Nanny passed this weekend at home surrounded by family. She is a mother of 8, grandmother to 19 and great-grandmother to 10 and counting. Her and my grandfather came from PEI as young adults and built their life here from scratch.
I have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time with my grandparents in the last decade, getting to know them as an adult and hearing their stories. Two summers ago we took an epic road trip to visit their hometown in PEI. Four generations in a van travelling was interesting and those memories worth every moment.
I am lucky that I was able to look after Nanny in her home overnight for one of her last really good days. Then I was able to help care and comfort her alongside my family in her final days. Her memory will live on with all of us. She was stubborn to the end and never lost that spirit that was unmistakably Nanny. I will miss her deeply. But know that she will no longer have to deal with any more, as she was well known to say, "bullshit".

Our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time. Although we did not know Mary very long, the warmth and welcome shared with us by her family are a tribute to Mary's influence and we feel very fortunate to have been included in this loving circle. Sorry we cannot be there to help and support you all at this time. We look forward to celebrating Mary fully, as her spirit and verve for life deserves.
Love to All,
Mark & Sarah Richter
